You need to keep warm…it’s really not good for our health to get too cold & can also cause problems in the house that will end up costing more to sort out.

I can’t afford the heating on, so I wear 3layers all day, do not qualify for help. Exhausted all avenues for help.

tried PIP but rejected as not disabled enough. ESA I’m on, but on new style one, so not entitled to cost of living payments. It’s exhausting trying to get help. The last week i have gone to bed after my diner just to keep warm:(

Keep warm I put boiler on 2 don’t be cold x

Can’t get esa haven’t tried pip wouldn’t know where to start

PIP will depend on your age. If over pension age I think you would need to look into attendance allowance instead. Have a look at this link.

If under pension age then have a look at this link for PIP.

Hi Loshy
I was rejected twice for PIP I even had help with the forms. a clinical nurse specialist helped with medical phrasing. They implied I was not disabled enough. so gave up.

I have an electric blanket, it’s on for 30 minutes to take chill off. I know it is not good, but I worry all the time how I am going to cope.

@chris67 I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling to stay warm. I’m going to add a few links below, hopefully one of them will help:

Information about grants from the British Gas Energy Trust

.

A list of other resources available, also from British Gas Energy Trust

.

Two places to search for a warm back near you. I know they’re not a perfect solution, but as you say, it’s not good for you to be cold all the time.

.
And finally, our Helpline. They may be able to help point you in the direction of other grants specifically for stroke survivors.
