So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately sometimes people are not sure how to deal with stroke.
I found a Different Strokes support group local to me and found this to be very helpful and informative as well as meeting some lovely people. The Stroke Association also have support groups around the uk.
I hope you manage to find a group meeting somewhere near you.
