Hello,
My name is Marie and I am new here. My husband had a stroke on 12 March and I am totally distraught. He is recovering but has lost his speech and I became a carer overnight. I don’t really know where to start or how to reach out to people locally. I won’t be able to join the call as I will be at the hospital at that time but could you please let me know how often you run the Carers Cafe? Thank you.

It is tough to start with and normally things do improve.
You will find us a helpful bunch, strokees and carers alike.
There is plenty of useful information on here (use the magnifying glass to search) and the Stroke Association (SA) website.
There is also a service by the SA called ‘Hear for You’ where you can be put in touch with someone for a weekly chat over the phone. Again have a look at the SA website
The cafe runs every other week, so the next one will be Friday 12th April
