Hullo Norma , I have just received a quite different diagnosis from a stroke specialist , neurologist at stcGeorges . On looking at My MRI and other tests he said my problem can’t be caused by the stroke which has long since disappeared without trace . He has recommended me to go to a neuro psychologist , acupuncture or cranial massage, change my sleeping pill to Temazapine which has a shorter after effect than nitrazapam which I have been on for ever. Also come off Amlodopine for 48 hours ( which I have done to no advantage) . He. Did not recommend any more dope I’m glad to say . The previous neurologist was simply nonplussed an d put me onto Amitryptaline which gave me a horror head
So there you have my recent medical history At least I am being proactive and looking at alternatives to just sitting here and feeling ill and defeated .
Today I am no use to anybody , so ill. Tomorrow might be better . I do hope so as the small grandchildren are visiting at breakfast time

I forgot to wish you all the best and thank you for your nice note

Thanks for your quick reply. My ear nose and throat specialist who reckons it is crystals in the inner ear he did a manouvare on me which did not help a lot and gave me some head exercises to do at home which became very monotonous and again did not rid me of this horrible feling in my head. I reallyt do n ot know who do go and see I have been to the ear nose and throat three times and I hasten to say that I have to go private so there go my savings. I have not been on sleeping tablets but I have heart troub le as well so I take enough tablets. I hope to hear from you again as I keep searching to fine somebody with the same as we have got. Best wishes to you Norma x

Oh yes , if you don’t want to wait several months for attention it has to be private at a price . I am trying a decongestant spray and hope and the hearing aid to solve my blocked ear . I’ll let you know if the new approach to my head problem produces any results . I don’t expect anything instant but at least I shall be proactive instead of just sitting and waiting or the stroke to get better , now that I know that isn’t the cause of this shocking head . I know the precise date end January when I started to regress rather than progress and have become worse ever since . I am fortunate to be in London where I have access to the best specialists.Fingrrs crossed for both of us . By the way I am 81 and my stroke was a small lacuna infarct which hardly affected me physically . People tell me how well I look ! Haha

Hi Gay I am 84 and my stroke was 2017 It affected my head and I had double vision. I had Botox injected into the muscle of my eye about 3 years after the stroke and before I had that procedure my head was not as bad I have told all the specialists that I think it was something to do with the botox as I and my husband are con vinced it had sometrhing to do with it. Like you people keep telling me I look well if only they knew what we were goingthrough. I willkeep in touch with any information I may get. Keep smiling Norma x

Hi. I too have pressure in my head, pressure in my left ear and ringing in my ears.
Went to doctors yesterday and he reckons its Sinus trouble. Picking up meds today.
Hope it works!

I do physical therapy for vestibular training. The vestibular system is those crystals in your ears. I am doing it to correct my balance and hopefully eyesight. I wonder if you can get help for this?

How did you manage to get that it sounds as though it is helping you. I would try anything . I am left in limbo with my head and my balance is getting worse. Thanks for your message. Norma x

If you go to YouTube and in the search indicated by the magnifying glass you type “vestibular rehabilitation exercises” you’ll find lots of information.

You could approach your GP or other medical professional. It’s possible your health authority allows self-referral to the neurological service or it may be within the ENT ear nose and throat grouping of services

The stroke association helped line on 03033033100 we’ll also be able to signpost you. It’s possible my stroke guide has something that I haven’t looked - that’s on the same URL as this forum

I have a vision issue, so my NeuroOpthamologist mentioned it and Physiatrist ordered it. However, asking your GP or ENT about it might be helpful. I am in US, things are done maybe a little differently but advocating for yourself is never a bad thing. I didn’t have a GP before stroke, and not for a long time afterward. I see specialists consistently, though. They actually have made all the referrals to other specialists for me.
