Clopidogrel

That's rotten! Hope it gets sorted for Christmas. That's would be a perfect Christmas present xx

Poor you! You need to find some time for yourself.  Sounds like looking after hubby etc is catching up with you.  I have a chat to my angel and them to keep a special eye on you xx ???

That's not like you Colin not planning ahead. His majesty Sooty will be checking the arrangements for his 3 day boys only break.  If their not purfect!! I'm sure there will be a discussion between you and himself

Hope your wife and you and his majesty have a good time.

Having a sofa weekend, eating Quality Street, (other tins of sweets are available) and ignoring the state of the house!!  Lovin' it ?

Perfect! Don't forget Strictly later xx ??

Nic and Kay,  you are such a good examples to follow! I’ve just made a batch of gf muffins and I’m scoffing one down with a lovely cup of tea. The boss is sitting eating likewise. He made the tea.

Pity us! We have had a heavy morning conversing with our insurance company for house cover. John did the nodding and shaking of head and I did the negotiating. We got the same policy with the same company for £70 less. No changes because I’d asked elsewhere and was able to quote. Well, John was exhausted by the time we finished and had to rest. Ahh!

Now we’re off to food shop aghh! Lol!

Thanks again Colin.

It snuck up on me because I had a really good and active summer. I felt great as I always do. I hadn’t been to a doctor since the 1970’s.

physically I am good with no issues. A bit of cognitive problems, I have work to get the words to my mouth but it isn’t bad.

I was lucky, my wife acted fast and the NHS was brilliant.

Im keeping at it

Thank you Kay. I am planning to get myself sorted out and that will make things amuch improved.

Wasn't meant to be a lecture.  Very sorry if it appears that way. Good to hear you feel able to find the motivation to plan your boys break.  It's not easy especially when you've been as low and tired as yourself.  Keep up the good work.

Dear Sandy

I too had brilliant help from the NHS. Couldnt have been faster and the stroke unit was superb. NHS do seem to come up trumps when we really need them.

Sorting out the words got easier in six months and was  reasonably good after 18 months. You describe it well.

Colin

I didnt take it as a lecture. Us SS need to help each other and thats what you are doing. Only another SS understands.

Bless you Kay

Colin

BBC 1 SUNDAY 'CARE'. YOURS ON.

Will record or watch but I bet the stroke related part will be its usual mis representing of stroke outcomes. Does anyone recall the name of the program on Aphasia ? I know a footballer named Junior was one of two persons. I would like to recall Juniors full name and also look for the program to see if its available.

Colin

I had a stroke on 24/05/2019. My drs note from thr hospital ran out on Friday so I went to see my gp who would not write me a note despite my saying I felt overwhelmed by the rhought od going back to work. My emotions are all over the place and I feel completely unsupported.

Dear Jow,

When you left hospital they would have sent a letter to your GP with their diagnosis. You should have been given a copy. If not then ask the staff at your GPs and they will give you a copy.

Next stop could be to approach your HR department, with your diagnosis letter and see what they might offer. If its a big firm then you might ask if they can have a HR person who is a  specialist in stroke.

If you had a TIA stroke then your GP is being a bit mean refusing a sick note. If you had ischemic stroke then he would be outrageous in not signing you off for at least three months.

The stroke association is very good. You could ring them for advice.

GPs are not trained in stroke. Support for us SS is hopeless. But it is improving.

Good luck

Colin

Hello, I had an ischemic stroke end of May. Saw a different gp and now due back at work mid August. I have to say, my experience of my local hospital has been terrible and occupational health keep calling me at work when I’m off sick, then accuse me of not engaging in their process! Just all adds to an already horrid situation

Hi my name is Mike Hopkins. Had my stroke Jan 28th. This year.

I was lucky only small loss of speech, now just about one hundred percent . Age 78. The hospital were fantastic but the aftercare team were pretty useless.

the problem was where we live and we cut through Devon eloped me sort the speechand Cornwall. Okay what my wife and I did was ro raise stink and we persisted, iventually they woke up and we had visits from them. So keep going and you can win.

in my case my wife helped me sort the speech, so by the time ai saw them we had sorted our selves out.

complain and complain you have rights and they should be doing their jobs.good luck mike

Dear Colin ,

Im so, so sorry to hear that you're having a miserable time with SF again.

I took a drug that started with a C (cant remember the name) for Pericarditis - inflammation of the enveloppe around the heart - it's also used for Gout.  I felt woozy and exhausted and stopped taking it .  It might be a good idea to look on the instructions on the box of medication you are taking to see if this is mentionned... If this is the case ask your doc to change to another medication.

I hope that this period of sheer exhaustion is just a phase and/or you can change the gout treatment to reduce possible nasty side-effects.   I think of you & am sending tons of positive energy your way.   Biggest hugs from Paris.

Dear Muffin

Jolly good thoughts and ideas.

Much appreciated.
