We used to have a black cat, name Sam, which had a method to get me out of bed.
It was to gently put one paw on a closed eye, then slowly extend a claw.
At that stage there was no arguing or ignoring.
It was very certainly an instruction, threat even, to open eyes and get out of bed, now.
Sadly he is long departed.
@Bobbi ouch that sounds like a painful way to be woken up 
Our cat always went out at night so we had a much gentler wake up call 
Ouch! Always fancied a 🐈⬛ black cat, so I could cross its path frequently. I’ve settled for my black pig, Mabel. Hope you are having a decent week.
