Hello everyone, I came across this website some minutes ago when I was searching an hashtag of stroke patient on Twitter. Today, being 6th of March 2021, marked 5years that my father had been suffering from Stroke. His right hand had been paralysed and he has not been working very well. We have been to different hospitals but the result has always been the same. He had a blurred speech as well. Whenever he exercise at home, he do complain of leg pain in his right leg.
I am imploring the forum to helping my father get to his feet again, by providing a useful guide medication.
I will be in the comments section to hearing of your valuable guide and medications to take.
Thanks always
I am sorry to hear of your father's condition after his stroke. However, none of us on this site are medically qualified and are in no position to offer advice on medication. What I can say, firstly, is that stroke is not an illness, so dad is not suffering from stroke in that sense. Stroke is a brain injury, a one off event, that damages brain cells governing how our body functions, usually on either the right or left side of the body.
After effects vary, but the brain can re-wire itself and recovery does take place. Progress, however, is often slow. Physiotherapy can help movement and speech therapy can help patients recover speech. Has your father had access to these? Your father should be on the right medication for his condition, but you might want to review this medication with his doctor.
Thanks so much for the words of encouragement and advice. We av been visiting the physiotherapist, the machine they have there is not that many and the doctors as well does not come to work everyday.

Hello Manbush,
As John Jeff Maynard has said, none of us here on the forum are medical professionals.
I am a stroke survivor. I survived a massive stroke in 2010 which left me half-paralysed, incontinent and I'd lost 25% of my vision. I overcame most of that and today I do half-marathon races when we are allowed to do them.
I still have stiffness in my left side but not pain, thankfully. The stiffness is caused by Spasticity - this is something our spines do when they sense there are problems with our brains. The spine sends signals to muscles to contract, forcefully. It is a defensive measure which might save our lives if something is trying to kill and eat us, but it is not very helpful when we just want to live normally.
It can be eased by exercising and some medications. Exercise helps the brain to take back control, so the Spine will stop what is causing the problems. Medications relax the muscles but can relax them too much - they are not an instant and perfect solution. If your father has a Stroke medical specialist supporting him, ask them about Baclofen or Botox.
If you've any other questions, do just ask here on the forum.
Take care, both of you,
Damian
