A researcher at the University of Plymouth is looking for carers living in the Plymouth and Exeter region to evaluate a self-help book to support rehabilitation.
This will involve reading through the book then providing your thoughts approximately 1-2 months later in a short telephone interview, video call or face to face if you prefer.
What is the study about?
This project aims to evaluate the self-help book “Rebuilding life after Stroke”, which has been developed by stroke survivors, carers and staff working in Stroke Services.
As the book is relatively new, we would like to understand carers of stroke survivors’ views about the book and their experiences of using it.
In doing this, we want to find out what the most helpful parts of the book were and the parts that could be improved to help other stroke survivors and their carers in the future.
This study will be written into a dissertation which is required as part of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. This study has been approved by the University of Plymouth ethics committee.
What will it Involve?
Carers will be provided with a copy of the book and asked for a suitable time approximately 1-2 months later to take part in a semi-structured telephone interview.
It is anticipated that the interview will last approximately one hour.
Who can take part?
We are looking for any formal and informal carers of stroke survivors in the Plymouth and Exeter region.
