Contraception

So I had a stroke age 24. When I started on 'the pill' many moons ago I was told about the side effete of possibly having a stroke. I have just read the ''How to reduce your risk of having a stroke booklet", it literally has one line about oral contraceptive and the connection to strokes. As strokes becoming more prevalent in young adults, does this need to be highlighted more?! Surely it does!!!

Hi Bryony

I apologise for not replying to this post sooner. We are aware of a link between hormone treatment and stroke. You can read more about this in our leaflet Women and stroke, which goes into this risk in more detail - https://www.stroke.org.uk/resources/women-and-stroke

Many thanks

Vicki

I had my first stroke aged 40 and it was the HRT patch that I had been put on after my hysterectomy
