Last Sunday I checked into hospital for a carotid stent procedure which was carried out on Monday afternoon, the treatment was carried out by the vascular dept.
Firstly a local anaesthetic was administered to my groin, a thin wire was passed through my veins into the blocked artery where the stent was fitted, the whole procedure took an hour and a half and was quite painless. I was allowed home the next day and if anyone is having this treatment I can put your mind at rest, it’s nothing to worry about.
